Extension Report-Brooke Edmunds, Elizabeth Records
January 22nd-23rd is quick start for the brand new volunteers to help with early projects before they have finished their class. An example would be to help at bee event in a non-informational capacity, like helping with lunch. The first day of class is a potluck on March 5th from 12 to 1. All master gardeners are invited to come and bring a dish to share. Elizabeth will have a full packet with the trainee class schedule so that current master gardeners can come and get refreshers on classes. If you are interested in being a mentor, contact Elizabeth
For 2020 plant clinics, Brooke has a new sheet with information for the public on what a master gardener is. It is a way to get that information out since most of the public is now coming to our plant clinics instead of the office. That shift is because the office is no longer downtown.
Linn county has 10 new trainees and it is not too late to give Brooke names for this year's class. Now that dues have been collected Betty Goergen and Brenda Winslow will be working on the directory book. Elizabeth has all the excel sheet data for the new directory.
The committee has asked for donations of cocoons and there have been thousands of cocoons donated. They now have 10,000 cocoons for the new breeder site and sales. People have been very helpful.
The registration sight is open. The caterer does not have recyclable lunch containers so the bee event is buying them and the caterer will use them. linnmastergardeners.com is the website to register, click on the bee button. All the speakers are set. Shonnard's Nursery will be bringing some of the plants that will be mentioned as area pollinator plants.
Susan discussed the agenda for the day. She said everything is going very well in preparation.
Ann Kinkley talked about having our own domain name for the bee event. There are other bee events across the country that have the same name. The bee committee will talk about this.
